Japan Has A Festival Where Thousands Of Half Naked Men Chase A Fully Naked Man To Touch Him For Good Luck

Since 767 AD, every year across Japan, over 9,000 men participate in the Hadaka Matsuri (Naked Man Festival).

One man is chosen as the Shin-otokoa (Naked Man), who must shave all body hair and run through the streets naked while pursued by thousands of half-naked men, trying to touch him for good luck and prosperity.

This is an extremely dangerous event since many will seriously injure the chosen one in the competitive scramble to touch him.

  1. This is stranger than the onbashira in Japan. At least touching the naked man won’t get you killed.

  2. To each their own – but thinking about naked men is NOT my cup of coffee
