  1. Hard to compare two different incidents, and myriad split second decisions by officers. Two thoughts come to mind though, why can’t toy guns be made in different bright colors so they aren’t mistaken as real (and of course the dispatcher could have relayed the callers own words that the gun might be fake); second, why are we still manufacturing and selling toy guns?

    • You Stated — “Hard to compare two different incidents, and myriad split second decisions by officers.”

My Response — And there’s the rub… for the 12 year old, who was not threating anyone, the police decided that 2 seconds was enough time but for the full grown man aiming a gun at children in a park telling police that he is going to shot them they decided he needed 15 min.

I think you are right Sheila… they needed to give the child more time like they did the guy threatening to kill children.

Equal time for children that’s given to thugs threatening the lives of children.

      Time is the key.

    • You Asked — “why are we still manufacturing and selling toy guns?”

My Response — They also now make toy rifles, grenades, pipe bombs, and torture devices.

Parents love buying death toys for children. To answer your question: When parents stop wanting them, they will stop making them.

It is strange how toy guns seem more real in minority children’s hands. Police tend not to shoot children with toys that are non-minority.

This case especially stands out to me. They shot at the person with the toy even though he was in plain sight. The toy was clearly visible, they were told it was a toy, police were there for about 20 min before one of them just started shooting. When they asked him why he shoot while knowing it was a toy all he could answer was, “I don’t know why I did it”.
