When YOUR party engages in hypocrisy then YOU (as a party member) must ignore it or support it. It’s only bad until your party does it, then it’s “Just politics”, it’s OK because “It’s for the greater good”, or my favorite “It’s no big deal” (now, not then).
I’m not going to waste your time rolling out the hundreds of examples of this so I will simply focus on one huge obvious fail in each party.
Let’s begin:
For the Republicans let’s go with Guns. They claim to love gun rights and gun owners. They have a plethora of ads stating how much they love gun rights.
- “An armed man is a Citizen. An unarmed man is a slave.”
- “Gun Control is not about guns; it’s about control.”
- “The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.”
- “If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.”
- “Criminals love gun control — it makes their jobs safer.”
But for some reason, none of those apply to the Republican Leadership when the guns are near them.
- No guns are allowed at Republican National Conventions
- No guns are allowed at those Republican Presidential Rallies
- No guns at those Republican Town Halls I see on TV
- No guns at those private Religious Schools their children attend
- No guns allowed at those Posh Republican Fund Raisers
NUFF SAID!
Now for the other side:
For the Democrats let’s go with Equality. They claim to want a world with equal rights and equal opportunity… for everyone
- “A fair day’s wage for a fair day’s work”
- “We’re With You: We’re Democrats”
- “For the People”
- “Stronger Together”
- “You Deserve Better”
They preach about a world with equality but why doesn’t the
Democratic Leadership want to live in that world?
- They don’t use the Healthcare they want you to use
- They don’t send their kids to your Public Schools
- They have Private Security in gated communities (Why not just use taxpayer cops and live next door to the voters?)
- They fly in Private Jets or First Class but you fly coach
- They don’t work 9 to 5 or get performance reviews by the people who hired them like you do.
NUFF SAID!
When are people going to wake up and stop making excuses for horrible behavior in the name of tribalism?

Exactly, when a public servant is near for some reason they forget that they are our servant and we should not have to “shelve” our right in their presence!

I have refused to align with either side for quite some time. The news is the same way. Both sides are very wrong and agenda driven. It’s interesting, as you have probably noticed yourself, once you step outside and become the observer, the entire spectrum is wrong. Then of course religion is the other side of this. Were given a choice between faith and atheism, and imo those are two wrong choices as well. I don’t believe in god, and I don’t believe in atheism either. It’s a long and lonely road at times.

You stated — “once you step outside and become the observer, the entire spectrum is wrong. ”
My response — “Yes” the entire spectrum is wrong but what I find interesting is why it’s wrong. I think the issue might be that the majority of people gravitate to absolutes. It’s either “Left” OR “Right”, the scale keeps crashing to one side or the other.
People like you and me are watching from the sidelines with a slightly better view. This doesn’t make us better people, just less likely to continue causing more harm. It’s a strange place to be.

I can’t really even join the conversation. Most of my blog follows are other atheists and they are passionately liberal, and can’t even fathom how I could not be aligned there. Here’s the deal, Both sides have slightly different tactics, but both lead to the same destination when played out full circle. It’s a mess I can’t be a part of and have an ounce of integrity.

Really? How did you arrive at this conclusion., Jim?
Are you talking about atheists and theists here?

I’m talking about politics, which I unusually don’t for a reason. I can’t wrap my head around either side yet somehow I’m forced to choose, which I mange to bit by bit.

I argue against politics and the two-ways in general but really limit it to a couple of blogs. I find Lady of Reason so distasteful and racist I can’t ignore it, and watchtower, the anti everyone transgender and Hs. I mentioned a while back how bias each side is, and got attacked by both. No one can see it. The two ways is a problem. I found Panama quite refreshing where 5 different parties have a legit shot at the presidential race. The current President and VP are from opposing parties. Here we decide and divide. And we get Trump. Would you participate in our system if you were here? Jeezus

I don’t bother with SA Politics so, no, not likely to bother if I were in the US where it is even more infantile.

You Stated — “Would you participate in our system if you were here?”
My Response — As an independent I usually support who I want, even knowing independents will not get elected.
But recently my wife, who was conservative switched to liberal and is using here influence on me to vote Trump out.
It would seem that this round is creating a fully divided camp, the middle is drying up rapidly.

lib·er·al
1. open to new behavior or opinions and willing to discard traditional values.
On paper it sounds easy enough but in politics it gets filtered through money so the outcome becomes predictable.
As for not having any faith in politicians we do still have influence on friends and family who then usually vote based on some type of party line.

Yoy Asked — “What has this got to do with me not having any ”faith” in politicians?”
My Response — Combining your shared thoughts on your now, political absense, I was infering in my comment that you may percieve yourself as out, but since you still influence, being out is an illusion.
Even now we are having a conversation on a topic where you are out.
Just a thought

A Second Answer — He’s talking about the two party system in the US.
But to be honest I don’t see other countries doing much better. I don’t know where you are located but my guess would be it’s most likely in the same boat. If it’s not that would be interesting and I would be curious.

Did I suggest any countries were doing better?
Although I’m sure a comprehensive search would probably reveal at least a couple of countries that are considerably better than SA and the US.

You Stated — “English isn’t your first language is it”
My Response — I’m not sure why I would need to speak English as my first language to have a conversation about liberals and conservatives. That’s to prejudice for me to get involved in so I’ll pass on your comment.
Your Question — “Furthermore are you intent on being argumentative simply for the sake of it?”
My Answer — I wasn’t aware we were arguing. I was curious about what you stated but if it offends you in some way or is to sensitive to talk about we can end the conversation. It’s not that important to me. I understand that people get heated over political conversations.

You Stated — “I asked if you were intent on being argumentative for the sake of it.”
My Response — My intent is to gain understanding of other people’s perspective and then compare it to my own for clarity of the human condition.
You Stated — “I simply cannot see the point in you being asinine.”
My Response — You must have some point for me being perceived as asinine. Usually when people have such strong emotions about other people it’s more related to themselves rather than the other person.
In this case you see me as stupid or foolish so I would imagine your perception is based on confusion as to why I would ever question you or what you state.
Just a guess
If possible I would like to ask a question related to the post:
What did people in your circles (in SA) feel about Obama becoming president? and Were they pleased with his time in office or disappointed?
