In the 1930s planes were so loud that the cabin crew needed megaphones to speak to passengers. Flights were known to cause hearing issues.
Some flights cost thousands (compared to today) and could take over 10 days to arrive.
Planes would drop hundreds of feet randomly and suddenly while in flight.
Celebrity employers did not consider flying to be safe so they forced actors not to fly.

Fascinating!

I do however, remember people smoking on the plane. I was stuck in the smoking sections a time or two flying standby.

I remember propeller planes when I was young. I flew on one just before they went bye bye, but I was really young.
The smoking was everywhere. People smoked constantly. It’s so strange now that it’s restricted. I heard that one city may ban it in peoples homes.
