Oxford University Is Older Than The Aztec Empire

  • Aztec Empire 1428-1521
  • Oxford University 1096-current

The Aztec people flourished in central Mexico from 1300 to 1521. The Aztec empire was a confederation of three city-states established in 1427 —
Tenochtitlán, Texcoco, and Tlacopan. The Aztec civilization began with the founding of Tenochtitlán in 1325. The Aztec built some pyramids but most were built by an earlier civilization known as the Maya.

Oxford started Teaching as early as 1096, and by 1249, the University was officially founded. The University of Oxford has no documented solid foundation date. The head of the university had the title of chancellor from at least 1201, and the masters were recognized as a university or corporation in 1231. The university was granted a royal charter in 1248 during the reign of King Henry III.

  1. Man, that’s pretty cool! I had always been under the impression that the Aztecs were older than Oxford University.

  3. I wonder when the ancient aliens guys gonna do an episode on this. Seems any non white ancient civilization couldnt be intelligent enough to do what they did, with what they had. So of course it had to be aliens.
