Affluenza: a psychological condition where a young person suffers from being excessively rich. This condition is said to cause them to doggedly pursue more and more money and power until they develop an inability to understand the consequences of their actions.
Case in point, (Ethan Couch), a Texas teen, who at the age of 16, stole beer, got drunk, and killed four people while driving. He had a blood-alcohol level three times the legal limit for adult drivers.
He killed a stranded female motorist, a youth minister, a mother and her daughter.
Affluenza was used as his defense and it worked.
He was sentenced by a judge to 10 years of probation.
There are literally thousands of teens in jail today for misdemeanor crimes but 4 people dead and no time spent, tell me why?
It would be lovely to think no-one (the judge) received any under the counter payment for the leniency of the sentence. However, there’s no way that this lad will manage to keep his nose clean for ten years given the lessons he’s currently learning from his family. So, sooner or later there will be another judge who may not be amenable to ‘Christmas come early’ and some form of justice may be done.

Interesting… you were right, he screwed up and was sentenced to two years not long after his release.
