I confessed my sins to a stranger,
and he ran away
I confessed my sins to my teacher,
and got an A
I confessed my sins to my mother,
and she cried
I confessed my sins to a priest,
and he lied
I confessed my sins to a friend,
and she scorned me
I confessed my sins to the court,
and they warned me
I confessed my sins to myself,
and was led astray
I confessed my sins to God
and they washed away
— Alex Sutton
Religion has taken ownership of a natural human psychological process. Casting away your burdens is a process easily achieved in any therapy session. It’s not really god that releases the burdens, but us, by following a simple technique taught by psychotherapy.

Interesting thought but it begs the question, why spend so much time in therapy with strangers when you can spend a min alone at home with God?

No need for either in my case, but it is a proven technique without any god involved. That’s all. Even confessing to a stranger on the bus is usually good enough to clear the mind of guilt.

It is a nice poem though, btw.

Interesting way of looking at it (more work) but interesting nonetheless.

Now, Mr Great poem, would you like to be addressed as Lander7 or Alex Sutton?

Hi Lander7 (Alex Sutton) and jmshistorycorner,
Forgetting confessing sins via a poem and what name to address any of us for the moment, it is too late for me to wish both of you and your respective families a Happy New Year. However, there is still time for me to wish you a Happy Chinese New Year, which will occur in a few days and lasting for 15 days, as explained in a special post of mine at https://soundeagle.wordpress.com/2013/02/10/soundeagle-in-chinese-new-year-celebration-spring-festival-lion-dance-traditional-culture-and-architecture/
