Hypnosis for anesthesia has been used since the 1840s.
A hypnotherapist helps patients control their subconscious reflexes so that they do not feel pain in the traditional sense.
Patients are aware of sensation as the operation progresses and often describe a tingling or tickling sensation where the pain would normally be expected.
What if, somehow, something went wrong with the hypnosis – such as, the patient suddenly breaks free from the hypnosis – what would they do then?

LOL! Though, I would feel safer if I was knocked out. At least then I would not be awake if something went wrong.
