We like to think our enemies are those we fight. That we push them back and they push us back, with hopes of victory in the days to come.

We give our enemies names like Democrat, Republican, Gay, Straight, Soldier, Civilian, Priest, Atheist, Man, Woman, Black, White, and so on.

Those aren’t enemies, they’re simply conscious human beings in different bodies, that on occasion, oppose each other’s philosophies.

An enemy is something special

  • Something you don’t see coming
  • Something that doesn’t fear you
  • Something patient, watching you
  • Something that doesn’t want to talk
  • It doesn’t want to reason
  • It doesn’t hate you
  • It just consumes you or rolls over you

An enemy is something that only makes itself known the moment it strikes.

The human race is running out of time to understand one simple concept:

“Stand together or fall apart.”

  3. Maybe the enemy is simply beliefs. Humans can’t help themselves, then take a lot of pride in thoughts.

My Response — I have no argument with that but currently I have only thought convictions that unite us so my case doesn’t fall within your belief system.

            • I have only thought convictions that unite us That’s what everyone says. Although I do see you as a fine effort of reason, the very first premises of abrahamic faith, right out of the garden of eden, are proofed in the outcomes of that belief. That we are made by god and here on probation has unending, yet dismal consequences.

My Response — The process that makes life is separate from how one lives it. You are free to do what any other human can’t stop you from doing, christian or not.

As for probation I have no idea what that means. From a christian perspective I am free from charges no probation and anyone who tries to hold me in contempt is guilty.

From a non-christian perspective I am guiltless unless someone has proof of my crimes. (again no probation)

My Response — It seems to me the opposite would be true… one should easily dismiss any belief they deem untrue.

My Response — Belief is relative to the individual. I believe God is real others do not.

My belief is real others are not.

My belief is not real to others who do not believe it.

My belief is the one true belief.

              • So there must be some purpose to attach to a belief that historically has caused tribalism, division, and disregard for our planet. The same one that condemns those that don’t believe it to hell. That belief system that claims to be the only way out of here, but has consistently produced what we see today, after more than a thousand years of monopoly. And you do this on purpose? There is actually some truth out there Lander. It is seen in the outcomes of the beliefs and absence of evidence which is evidence of absence. Everyone can see it everywhere but their own beliefs, which are merely thoughts to pacify the anxieties created by the same structure.

My Response — You are describing our political, cultural, religious, monetary, and national beliefs. If you want us to abandon all of them, then so be it, but don’t conflate that with personal faith, books, or thoughts (those will continue on as long as people can think).

Although the books may all be digital 😉

My Response — Thoughts are tied to feelings which are tied to our physical bodies. How you feel can effect your health. When you say “merely pacify anxiety” it downplays the symptoms of anxiety:

                  Crying.
                  Trembling.
                  Pins and needles.
                  Numbness.
                  Dizziness.
                  Racing heart.
                  Heart palpitations.
                  Chest pain.
                  Shortness of breath.
                  Ringing in the ears.
                  Crying.
                  Headaches.
                  Neck tension.
                  Stomach upset, nervous stomach.
                  Pulsing in the ear.
                  Burning skin.
                  Electric shock feeling.
                  Shooting pains in the face.
                  Weakness in legs.
Feeling like you are going crazy.
Feeling like you might pass out.
                  Inability to rest.
                  Sleep problems.
                  Tight band around the head.
Tight band around the rib cage.
                  Tight stomach.
A warm sensation that begins in the stomach.
Strong feeling of impending doom and foreboding.

My Response — Less fascinating and more typical of the human condition. I am not aware of any other social order within mankind that doesn’t have the same process of perception. Everyone I have encountered believes they are correct, including you.

My Response — I had the opposite experience, I thought I was doing things on my own but was shocked to see things happening to me beyond my logical understanding. For someone like me not having control was a bit of a shock.

  4. An enemy is a person who does neither respect you nor has an interest that you can enjoy your life. So you can not stand together with Nazis, religious fundamentalists or autoritarian leaders. These people will simply kill you if found necessary by their mischief and ruthless minds.

My Response — So you are saying the military is full of only one ideology and none of them are racist? Since they all work together daily I thought it would be a good place to start.

  5. “Stand together or fall apart.” Who? Who should stand together or go extinct? We humans must come together on what our place is in the universe. Is it possible for anyone to believe that humans are “the reason” that earth and possibly the entire universe was created and not be considered insane? The delusion of the supernatural has been with us from the beginning and until we recognize it as the delusion it is we will be under threat of the messianic monotheists to get to earth’s end ASAP.
