Meet The Internet Search Engine That Plants Trees

Ecosia is an Internet search engine that plants trees by donating part of it’s income to non-profit organizations that focus on reforestation and conservationism. They have been responsible for the planting of more than 60 million trees.

Ecosia claims to be a privacy friendly, encrypted search engine that doesn’t store or sell data to third party advertisers. Ecosia shows advertisements next to its search results, and is paid by partners every time a user is directed to an advertiser via a sponsored link.

Ecosia uses 80% of its profits (47% of its income) from advertising revenue to support projects. They publish monthly financial reports on their website.
