The Active Denial System (ADS) is a non-lethal, directed-energy weapon developed by the U.S. military, designed for area denial, perimeter security and crowd control. AKA “The Heat Ray”

It works by heating the the skin of targeted human subjects. It fires a high-powered beam of 95 GHz waves at a target. It works on a similar principle as a microwave oven, exciting the water and fat molecules in the skin, and instantly heating them up. Radiation burns caused are similar to microwave burns, but only on the surface of the skin. So far no human test subject has lasted longer than 5 seconds before having to stop the experimental exposure to the heat ray.

You are now safe from people protesting.
Non–lethal is only a touch away from lethal if someone decides to change a few parameters. What happens when it touches metal or other solid objects? What if it is trained on a gun or other explosive weapon? Or if it hits a mirror? I have many questions, but no answers.

Great questions! I don’t think they considering all possible conditions. The possibility of changing the parameters is scary.

I hated to have to suggest it, but once something is created, the creator instantly loses control over it. All it takes is someone who decides to use it in ways the creator did not intend. It happens with almost every invention. If there is a way to weaponize it, someone will do that.
And this is one of the easiest…

Thank yo for the article, but I don’t like this ADS!What’s the cost? How many have to be built and where will they be located?

They cover the cost through federal programs. Deployment will most likely be in all major cities.

What is the speed of the truck carrying the ADS.

It’s a standard Jeep so most likely around 80 with the additional load. But don’t quote me on it.
