Rouketopolemos (“rocket war”) is the name of the event held annually in the town of Vrontados on the Greek island of Chios.
At midnight before Orthodox Easter Sunday [as defined by the Julian calendar], two rival church congregations, (St. Mark’s and Panaghia Ereithiani.), perform a “rocket war” by firing over 50,000 handmade rockets at each other.
Interesting. Though, can be dangerous to fire them at each other.

Agreed, but I like this because it shows the insanity of mankind grasping on to unnecessary traditions in the name of religion. We need a constant inoculation against stupidity.
