Audi, in collaboration with Berlin-based start-up PTScientists, is launching the first ever private moon mission, scheduled for 2019. The mission objective is to explore the moon as a potential future human habitat. The Audi lunar Quattro vehicles will be playing a key role in this mission.
They are very interested the potential of harvesting a clean and efficient form of energy from the Moon known as Helium-3. It could provide safer nuclear energy in a fusion reactor, since it is not radioactive and would not produce dangerous waste products.
The Moon could also be used as a base for further space exploration.
